Corporate crime & regulation

No matter how careful you are, anyone involved in business long enough will, at some point, have a brush with a regulatory enforcement agency.

We provide advice, support and, if necessary, representation to clients when this happens. Our involvement may include:

  • providing advice after “an inspector calls”
  • accompanying clients to formal interviews under caution
  • engaging with the enforcement body to persuade them not to bring enforcement proceedings
  • representing clients in criminal proceedings once brought

Many bodies can enforce the law besides the police. We have experience of dealing with all of the major bodies, including:

  • The Health & Safety Executive
  • The Environment Agency
  • Trading Standards
  • Environmental Health Departments
  • The Transport Commissioner
  • HM Revenue & Customs
  • DEFRA
  • The Serious Fraud Office

We also have experience on advising clients on preparing for “dawn raids” by the Competition Commission and have devised an emergency protocol to be followed in such circumstances.
