New partner joins Darwin Gray

Darwin Gray has further strengthened its employment law team with the appointment of Damian Phillips as a partner.

Damian was formerly a senior associate specialising in employment law at Hugh James where he’d worked for six years. Prior to that, he worked in the employment law team at Lyons Davidson’s Bristol office.

His role at Darwin Gray involves advising clients on contentious and non-contentious employment law issues, from unfair dismissal and discrimination to industrial relations and transfer of undertakings. He will also represent clients at tribunal and regulatory hearings, draft and advise on company policies, procedures and employee contracts and service agreements, and present training courses on employment law.

Damian is also the South Wales representative of the Employment Lawyers Association. His arrival strengthens Darwin Gray’s employment team to five. Since it was founded by Donald Gray and Bethan Darwin in 2002, Darwin Gray has grown to nine partners, and 18 lawyers.

Employment law specialist Bethan Darwin said: “We are delighted to welcome Damian to the practice. We have a thriving employment law team with great experience and expertise. It’s a very busy time for employment lawyers and we needed someone of Damian’s calibre to help us develop further.”

Damian Phillips said, “Darwin Gray is one of the most respected practices in the country with a reputation for excellence. The opportunity to join as a partner was simply too good to miss. I hope my experience in employment law will help the firm towards the next level of its development.”
