Rhodri trained at Eversheds in Cardiff. After qualifying in 1997, he spent four years with Palser Grossman specialising in general commercial disputes and professional negligence claims against solicitors and surveyors.

In 2001, Rhodri moved to Morgan Cole in Cardiff to specialise in property related disputes. He subsequently moved to an in house role with the national retailer, the Peacock Group where he dealt with a mixture of property issues, as well as general contractual and regulatory work.

Rhodri joined Darwin Gray as a partner in June 2003. He advises on a broad range of commercial and contractual disputes and has particular expertise in property related disputes including residential and commercial property and all landlord and tenant work;  commercial and contractual disputes; professional negligence (particularly relating to property); and shareholder and company disputes

Examples of work undertaken

Commercial Dispute Resolution

  • Acted for Barratt Homes Limited in a high profile dispute with Welsh Water over right of a developer to connect to the sewerage network. Case was won in the Court of Appeal and subsequently in the Supreme Court.
  • Acted in several disputes between shareholders, including a case that reached the Court of Appeal
  • Represented numerous claimants in professional negligence actions against solicitors and surveyors. Most of the disputes were related to property.
  • Extensive experience in commercial and contractual disputes.
  • Considerable experience in dealing with claims relating to probate and wills.
  • Has represented clients in the High Court, County Court as well as in arbitration and mediations. Have also appeared before the Residential Property Tribunal and before the Adjudicator to the Land Registry. Have represented clients in relation to regulatory prosecutions (trading standards and environmental prosecutions) in the magistrates courts.
