Donald started his career working in commercial litigation in London, where he soon developed on to specialise in a range of commercial work. 7 years later, Donald joined Edward Lewis & Co in Cardiff. He carried out a large proportion of the firm’s insolvency work (particularly involving land and intellectual property) as well as being involved in a large open cast coal-mining project. He left Edward Lewis and became a partner with Palser Grossman in 1995.
In March 2002, Donald co-founded Darwin Gray, where he now concentrates on a number of specialised areas of law which reflect his unique experience and skills set.
Donald is the head of the Commercial Property team. As department head and regeneration specialist, Donald acts on complex development projects with a particular focus on security issues in construction and on mixed use schemes. He also has specialist knowledge of the Welsh mining industry, coal authority licensing, the acquisition of compulsory rights, and environmental and production issues.
With his expertise, Donald is also the head of Darwin Gray’s Intellectual Property department, in which he manages copyright material and confidential information, works on copyright clearance and infringement issues, and deals with licences of copyright and software.
In his spare time Donald enjoys staying active, which is why he commutes to work every day by bike. He is also a fan of swimming and uses photography as a creative outlet.
