Our specialist team

Darwin Gray's Insolvency team advises insolvency practitioners, creditors, debtors and directors in relation to both corporate and personal insolvency issues.

We act both for and against directors of insolvent companies in respect of alleged breaches of fiduciary duties and wrongful/fraudulent trading claims, as well as directors’ disqualification proceedings.

The team is headed by partner Ian Herbert, who has been called “pragmatic, commercial and able to deal with technical points" (Chambers). Ian has been singled out by sources for his aptitude in handling heavy insolvency litigation, particularly that arising from corporate insolvencies and is considered a “highly-experienced insolvency practitioner with a fine reputation for his expertise on contentious matters” (Chambers).

Partner Kempton Rees is a regional committee member of the Professional Insolvency Association, R3 and acts in a liaison role with the Insolvency Service. Chambers 2017 described Kempton as being “very client-focused” and “a leading practitioner in the region.”
